We really had a good time last night at the Woodbine Opry!  Another good crowd was in attendance with several first-time visitors.  They came from Kingsland, Darien, Macon, and Blackshear, Ga., Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach, and Fort Meyers, Fl.  I believe that everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves.

We were happy to have Roger Bellows from Charleston, S.C. on stage with us again last night.  Roger is an excellent fiddle player and attends the opry whenever he is in the area visiting his sister.  It’s always great having Roger with us.  We also had some first-time guest performers with us last night;  Butch Ricker from Darien, Nellie Aba from Brunswick, and Ray Guin from Macon.  Gary Samuel also came back to visit and set in on the drums.  It was good seeing Gary again.  I thought our first-time performers did a great job and hope they all will come back again.

I hope to see you all at the Opry!

We had another really good time at the Woodbine Opry!  Our first-time visitors to Saturday night came from Kingsland, Waycross and Darien, Ga., Jacksonville and Yulee, Fl, and two seperate visitors from New York.  As usual, we had a fine crowd.

I want to thank Marshall Roland for appearing with us last night and playing the steel guitar.  Marshall makes his guitars and he announced last night he is going to donate one to the Woodbine Opry to be raffled off.  That’s really nice of him and now you can have a chance to win a lap-steel guitar.  I’ll let you know more about the details as they develop.

Bill Whitley was playing guitar for us again last night, thanks Bill.  Robert McCullers was busy with his work and unable to be with us, but he should be back next Saturday.  Hershel is having his shoulder operated on again this week and hopefully this will fix it for him.  He’s had a time with that shoulder.

I hope to see you at the Opry!

I’ll tell you what now, we had a good time at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  We had another real fine crowd with quite a few first-time visitors.  These folks came from Jacksonville and Yulee,  Fl., Kingsland and Brunswick, Ga., Woodstock, Ill., Montrose, Co. and Pittsburg, Pa., and Ft. Payne, Alabama.

Hoydt was back with us last night, and it was really good to see him out and about.  Maybe by next week he’ll feel good enough to sing his songs for us.

Roy and Aubry weren’t with us last night, Roy’s up in Pennsylvania.  Carroll Hayes attended a family reunion so he too wasn’t with us.  We look forward to having them rejoin us.  Bill Whitley did join us to play guitar and fill in on bass.  It’s always good having Bill with us.  Bill’s son, Jeff, just moved back to Georgia and he came down with his dad, and are we happy that he did.  That boy can sing!  He’s also a fine guitar picker.  Now that he’s a local, maybe he’ll show up often.   We sure hope so.

Hope to see you at the Opry!

We had another fine evening at the Woodbine Opry!  There were several first-time visitors coming from Port St. Lucie and Jacksonville, Fl., and High Falls, Midway, Glenville, and Lyons, Ga.

April Baker was back to sing with us, and as always, itwas good to have her there.  Also, Jeanie Hayslip from High Falls made her first appearance with us and did a great job.  I hope she has an opportunity to come back in the near future.  We missed our piano player last night.  Carroll Hayes was a little under the weather and unable to be with us.  I hope he gets to doing better real soon.

Hoydt Drury, the Father of the Woodbine Opry, is in the hospital in Brunswick.  He has a couple of cracked ribs from falling off his roof and is in a good bit of pain.  He’s always missed when not at the Opry!  He normally takes the photos for me to place on the website, so unfortunately, I have no photos to be placed on there this week.  Hopefully, he’ll be back with us real soon.

Ya’ll have a good week and we’ll see you at the opry!

Well, we sure had us another good time at the Woodbine Opry!  When we first started playing at 7:00PM I didn’t think we were going to have much of a crowd, but it wasn’t long before folks started filtering in, and before long we had a really good crowd.  It was pretty stormy around and some heavy raining going on which may have slowed some of you down getting there.  Another nearly full house and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Prefontaine were with us and celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.  We had first-time visitors from Florida, Georgia, and Indiana.

It was good having Paul Donahue back to sing with us.  Paul has been under the weather and unable to be there for the past few weeks.  I know everyone enjoys listening to Paul sing.

I again want to thank all of the workers that work so hard keeping everything going at the opry, both in the kitchen and the ticket sales.  These folks donate a lot of their time for the Woodbine Opry and in helping to keep the old school alive.  They really don’t receive enough recognition.

Let’s see you at the opry!

We had another good night at the Woodbine Opry.  Our first-time visitors came from Jacksonville, Fl., and Kingsland and Brunswick, Ga.  We didn’t have as large a crowd as we normally do, but that’s okay.  It’s summertime and there’s a lot going on this time of year.  I believe those that were there enjoyed the evening and had a good time.  That’ what it’s all about!

Hope to see you at the Opry!

Everyone had fun last night at the Woodbine Opry!  We had a whole bunch of first-time visitors; they came from St. Marys, Brunswick, Nahunta, Rome, Appleton, Augusta and Waysneboro in Georgia, and from Jacksonville, Fl.  I hope I didn’t leave anyone out as I have to rely upon my memory to write this.

We in the band had our usual good time, and it’s a lot of fun for us, too.  When we look out into the audience and see that they are having fun, it makes everything worthwhile.  That’s whats going to Woodbine is all about; just having a good time with good people!  Once again, I want to thank all of the fellas in the band that donate their time and talent to the opry.  We are very fortunate that these guys show up week after week to perform.  I just can’t thank them enough.

Hope to see you at the opry!

Everyone had a good time, again, at the Woodbine Opry!  We had first-time visitors from North Carolina, Georgia, and Massachusets.  We were short on singers last night; Carrol Hayes was unable to attend and J.C. Hunneycutt was under the weather and couldn’t make it with us.  We sure missed them both.

A few months back we had some visitors with Travel Media that talked with the folks and took some photos.  I want to share this link with you as a result of that visit: http://travellady.com/Issues/June08/5059Georgia.htm.  I’ll post more if/when I get them.

Hope to see you at the Opry!

It’s always so good to be with the fine folks that come to the Woodbine Opry.  The crowd was down a bit last night, but still, a nice-sized one.  Harley and Billie Jean Harris were recognized having their 44th anniversary, what nice people they are.  We certainly do have the best bunch of folks attend the opry.

Hoydt was back with us last night and maybe by next week he’ll be up and singing again.  Robert McCullers was out due to illness so hopefully he’ll get over what’s ailing him so he can join us again next week.

Hope to see you all at the Opry!

We had yet another good crowd with us Saturday night and several first-time visitors.  Our new visitors were from Jacksonville, Fl, and Woodbine, Brunswick, and Louisville in Georgia.  Two of our regulars were recognized having their 51st wedding anniversary; Bobby and Judy Gaskin.  Congratulations to these fine people!  I also want to mention that Gary Walcott won the money and donated a good portoin of it back to the school.  We certainly appreciate that.

Hoydt was in the hospital most of last week and was unable to be with us on Saturday night.  He wasn’t there to help out, so I don’t have many photos to add this week.  Hopefully, he’ll be back with us next week.

We did get a coat of paint on the auditorium this week.  How about that!  It looked and felt so much better in there last night.

Hope to see you at the opry next week.
